Frequently Asked Question

How can I buy from the App Store after using a trial version?
Last Updated 7 years ago

We offer free trial versions of all our apps; we feel nobody should have to buy software without trying it first. (The App Store won't let us mention free trials, so you have to find them on your own.)

If you've installed one of our trials, we hope you like the software, and we hope you choose to buy from us. That way, we get to know you personally as a customer, and you're eligible for upgrade pricing on future major releases. (We also keep more of the money, which is important to helping us stay in business to keep building cool apps.)

But if you decide to purchase from the App Store instead of from us, that's fine too. If you want to purchase from the App Store after using our trial software, here's what we recommend:

  1. Quit the trial app.
  2. Delete the trial app. You will not lose any settings, customizations, etc., as those are all stored in the app's preferences, which you are not stored within the app itself.
  3. Empty the trash.

You should now be able to purchase and install from the App Store without any troubles. If, however, the download is stuck, or doesn't install at all, please try rebooting your computer—the App Store sometimes seems to get confused by our trials, even after they've been removed. A reboot fixes the problem in nearly every case we've run across.

If even after rebooting, you still can't install the app, you will have to contact the App Store (via the Send Feedback link in your App Store receipt) for assistance. As much as we'd like to help solve your App Store installation problem, we can't: we have no information on you as a customer, and we don't have a contact at the App Store to whom we can refer customer-related issues.
