The following little tidbits will help you get the most out of Leech.
- Leech supports a limited form of private downloading; select Leech > Private Downloading to enable it. In private downloading mode, any files you download won't be added to your history, and filenames are disguised in the Downloads window. In addition, notifications are suppressed.
- You can reveal any in-progress download by double-clicking its entry in Leech's main window. (This will not work if you've set Leech's General settings to hide its temporary files.)
- You can choose an individual folder for a given download by holding the Shift key [⇧] while dropping a URL on Leech's downloads window.
- By default, Leech adds downloads to its queue and starts them as soon as a download slot becomes available (based on your concurrent download limits). If you'd rather start downloads by hand, deselect Start Downloads Automatically from Leech's Queue menu.
- You can clear the "Download To" section of Leech's File menu by holding down the Option key, then selecting the File menu. You'll see that Clear Menu is now available (where Other was before). Select Clear Menu, and all destinations—other than the one set in Leech's Settings be removed from the menu.
- Sometimes you want to shut down your computer when all downloads are done. If you've queued a lot of downloads, that may take hours, and the downloads may complete while you're not around. That's why Leech can be configured to sleep or shut down your computer when it's done. Just select the corresponding item from Leech's Queue menu.
- Use Leech's History menu to quickly download anything you've recently downloaded, or to just copy the URL in case you want to email it a friend. Use the History tab in Settings to control how long your download history is remembered.
There's much more, of course, so spend some time looking through the rest of these help pages. If you still have questions, please open a trouble ticket or look for us on our Discord.
