Today we released Witch 3.5.2, and for once, we actually didn’t sneak in any new features (I know, you’re in disbelief). Just two minor bug fixes, one of which affected apps with windows in other Spaces when Witch’s Spaces support was disabled. The other cropped up when the key repeat rate was set to ‘off’ in the Keyboard System Preferences panel.
You can read those two sentences again on the official release notes page, but really, there’s no need—that’s really all that’s there!
You can get the update via Witch’s in-app updater, or download the full program from Witch’s product page.
Thanks, you busy bees!
The Spaces problem that was created in the 3.5.1 update has still not been fixed in 3.5.2.
I currently have the “Show an Activate item for applications without windows” box checked. Yet, when I’m in a Space without any open windows, Witch shows a “No Windows” message instead of the applications that are running.
Can you PLEASE give me a download link to version 3.5? I asked for this after the 3.5.1 update came out, and nobody responded.
Thank you,
John
I just found the 3.5 installer on my computer (thank you Dropbox) and re-installed that, and now it works fine again.
Is this problem not showing up in your testing? It replicates every time for me.
By the way, this is the third comment I’ve posted on this one blog post. Don’t feel like you need to show them publicly… the only reason I’m commenting here is because my support request was never answered a couple weeks ago, so I don’t know if that system is working or not.
John:
I don’t see any entries in the support system from your email address. Did you use another address, and/or did you receive an email with a ticket number? If you did, can you let me know what the ticket number was? (Just email me via our contact page.)
Thanks;

John, I’m guessing you have Witch’s Spaces support disabled. If that’s the case, entering the following line in Terminal while neither Witch nor System Preferences are enabled/running, should make Witch 3.5.2 behave the way you want it to:
defaults write ~/Library/Application\ Support/Witch/Settings "Activate Items Defy Disabled Spaces Support" -bool true
And if you have some apps bound explicitly to certain Spaces, here’s another line you might want to enter while you’re in Terminal:
defaults write ~/Library/Application\ Support/Witch/Settings "Ignore Off-Screen Assigned Applications" -bool false
I realize it might be easier for you to stay with Witch 3.5 for now. However, these might come in handy at some point in the future, e.g., when there’s a Witch update you’re interested in for reasons unrelated to Spaces.
PS: Sorry for making you jump through hoops like that. When it comes to determining the behavior users most likely expect from a certain configuration, sometimes there simply is no 100% correct answer.
is it just me or are others getting sluggish performance with the latest version of Witch running on Snow Leopard?
If you’re seeing sluggish performance, it’s probably being caused by another app taking CPU time, not Witch itself. Please file a trouble ticket in our support system — manytricks.com/support, and provide details on what apps you’re running when Witch seems slow. I can then work with you to figure out the cause.
